What AI chat website should I use for coding?
The AI landscape is changing rapidly, so it will probably be difficult to keep this section perfectly up to date.
If you want to see which AI models are the best for coding at the moment, you should check out the Aider polyglot coding leaderboard. So far, that leaderboard has aligned well with my own experience; I’ve seen some questionable rankings on other known leaderboards.
Google’s AI Studio provides free access to their latest and greatest models, like Gemini 2.5 Pro. Maximum token context windows are included, and you can enable code execution or search in the settings. This is insane value for free.
A ChatGPT Plus subscription currently provides really good value at $20 a month. It gives you 100 o4-mini-high messages a day, a limit that’s already difficult to reach daily. Even if you do manage to hit it, you can fall back to the normal o4-mini. On top of that, features like search, projects, and memory are really nice to have.
For those with more money to spend, the ChatGPT Pro subscription at $200 a month offers a huge productivity boost for coding. It comes with near-unlimited access to full o3 (and soon o3-pro), so you’re getting the best of the best here with basically no worries about usage limits. Obviously, though, this option isn’t for everyone.
